Pet Surrender

We work hard to make people understand that animals are a lifelong commitment, and we hate to see people give up on their pets due to behavioral problems or lifestyle changes. Please consider all alternatives before you surrender (see suggestions below).

Surrendering a Dog or Cat Adopted From CLAWS

Please contact the fosterhome from whom you had adopted the animal or contact CLAWS by email at clawsadopt@yahoo.com or by phone at (201) 768-0200 (voice mail only). Please understand that we need some notice before we will be able to find a suitable place for the animal. Do NOT contact us at the last minute and expect us to be able to help you.

Surrendering a Dog or Cat Not Adopted From CLAWS

If we have space, CLAWS asks for a surrender fee of $100 to take in your dog, and $75 to take in your cat. Exceptions may be made in very limited circumstances. For other surrender options, please see these excellent resources. Email clawsadopt@yahoo.com or call (201) 768-0200 (voice mail only)
