FOSTERING – We rely solely on foster homes to house all of the cats, dogs, puppies and kittens that come in. Each foster home has a team member as a mentor to guide them through the process. The mentor for that animal interviews potential adopters and ultimately chooses the animal’s forever home. The mentor will also decide and facilitate all vetting and veterinary appointments. C.L.A.W.S covers the cost of all vetting we just ask that you get your foster animal to and from that specific veterinary appointment.  We use a handful of specific veterinary offices, groomers and trainers that work closely with our organization. Foster homes typically supply the food for the animal though we can assist if needed. Foster homes are encouraged to promote their animal for adoption through word of mouth and/or social media.

 

If anyone is interested in your foster animal just refer them to our website to fill out our application. Cats and kittens can and should attend our adoption events every Saturday so they can be seen by potential adopters. This will be coordinated with the volunteers who run the event. Dog meetings and adoptions are held privately and will be coordinated by a mentor.

 

As mentioned before, some of the animals come in with no history so we do not know a great deal about them. Foster homes are encouraged to help an animal progress with proper care, training and of course love! This helps your foster animal become happier and more adoptable. You can consult your mentor to provide you with tips and tricks as most of us have been doing this for a long time. A detailed “Care Instructions” sheet will be provided to you to help you through as well.

Fostering can be difficult sometimes and there may be a lot to learn however, it is a truly rewarding experience for you and for the animal.
